Chan & Chan USA LLC is a growing Food Production Company currently hiring full-time team members! The Production Scheduler / Materials Planner position has a key role in our modern food manufacturing facility. The Production Scheduler / Materials Planner is a valuable member of our growing team and plays a critical role in the manufacturing of our many products. Ideal candidates must be safety focused while consistently producing the highest quality products for our customers. The duties and responsibilities of the Production Scheduler / Materials Planner position will vary depending on the business needs but generally include the following:

Position Summary:

The Production Scheduler / Materials Planner has responsibility for creating and managing production plans and daily line schedules, as well as managing the procurement and inventory position of materials needed for production. This position serves as a key support function working with Operations, Warehousing, Logistics and Customer Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Updates production schedules as needed based on customer demand changes, production attainment and material availabilities.
  • Responsible for leading planning meetings and informing Operations of schedule changes, material shortages and major customer order events.
  • Experience working with MRP systems, particularly Sage X3, and ensure raw materials are available for production.
  • Ability to take a lead role in creating and updating item master files, inventory masters, and other Sage X3 data fields to lay a foundation for running the planning cycle through ERP
  • Creates & manages material purchase orders, updates pricing as needed, and confirms order acknowledgements from suppliers.
  • Coordinates material logistics through delivery of raw material and packaging inventory, includes domestic and international purchases.
  • Works with approved suppliers for product availability, stays informed of changes in market conditions, and ensures contracts are in place where required.
  • Ensures vendors have up-to-date specifications and that all delivered products are within approved SQF / GMP Quality ranges.
  • Confirms accurate stock levels of all raw materials and packaging components.
  • Responsible for communication of new sales orders to Operations team and ensures the production schedule can meet customer lead times. Also, anticipates planning based on customer prior year purchases and current stock levels.
  • Manages inventory change control, financial inventory analysis, and ensures proper disposition of inventory for discontinued, damaged and/or obsolete inventory reasons.
  • Communicates daily with the Warehouse on receipts of materials and transfers of released Finished Goods to customers’ locations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires sufficient physical ability to walk, stand, and sit; to frequently bend, squat, crouch, kneel, twist, and make other movements in the performance of daily activities; to reach outward, and lift, carry, push and/or pull moderate amounts of weight according to EH&S guidelines.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment; frequent exposure to dust, noise, and chilled / cold areas.
  • Sitting for periods of time working in front of a computer screen.

Work Environment:

  • Must always wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the food manufacturing areas as well as any required PPE for the specific task being performed.

Work Conditions:

  • The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday.
  • Must be willing to occasionally work extended hours or weekends to support production needs and/or special projects.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required will be determined by EH&S.

Required Training:

  • The Production Scheduler / Materials Planner position requires training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • All required EH&S training must be completed satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • CPIM (Certification in Production and Inventory Management) or similar credentials is desired.
  • Production Planning and Material Management experience in a food/consumer goods manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Purchasing experience in a food/consumer goods manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with demand planning software and statistical forecasting techniques is highly desired.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as relational databases, Microsoft Dynamics GP or SAGE X3, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), and other related software.
  • Broad knowledge of state of the art supply chain management initiatives and programs.
