Chandlers Preschool Inc. is Hiring a Part-time Preschool Teacher Near Los Angeles, CA

Position: Part-time Preschool Teacher

Salary: $25.00 Per Hour

Status: 4.5 hours per day (Morning and evening openings available)

Reports to: Center Director

Preschool Teacher Job Description

A preschool teacher is a nurturing and dedicated educator responsible for creating a stimulating and enriching learning environment for young children aged 3 to 5 years old. They play a critical role in promoting the cognitive, social, emotional and physical development of preschool-aged children through engaging and developmentally appropriate activities and experiences

Job Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to)

Curriculum Planning and Implementation

  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports the learning and development of preschool-aged children
  • Design engaging lesson plans, activities, and experiences that promote language development, literacy, numeracy, creativity and critical thinking skills
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities

Classroom Management

  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel valued, respected and empowered to learn
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior and routines, implementing positive reinforcement strategies and appropriate discipline techniques as needed
  • Foster a sense of community and collaboration among students, encouraging peer interaction, cooperation and social skills development

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

  • Use observation, assessment tools, and informal assessments to monitor and document children's progress and development
  • Provide feedback to parents and caregivers on their child's growth, strengths and areas for improvement, fostering open communication and partnership in support of children's learning

Parent and Family Engagement

  • Build positive relationships with parents, families and caregivers, establishing open lines of communication and collaboration to support children's learning and development
  • Communicate regularly with parents through meetings, conferences, newsletters and other means to share information about curriculum, activities and child progress
  • Provide resources, guidance and support to parents on child-rearing practices, developmental milestones and educational opportunities

Professional Development and Collaboration

  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education, pedagogy and best practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to share ideas, resources, and strategies for improving teaching and learning outcomes
  • Engage in reflective practice, self-assessment and goal setting to continuously improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes

Education

  • Child development units
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an early childhood setting

Skills

  • Knowledge of early childhood development, curriculum design and educational best practices
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for working with young children
  • Ability to create a positive and nurturing learning environment that supports the needs of diverse learners
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity, equity and respect in the classroom

Health Requirements

  • Must have TB clearance
  • Must pass pre-employment physical screening
  • Must have MMR and T-dap vaccinations

Other

  • Must pass Live Scan fingerprint clearance pre-employment and during continued employment
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Educational transcripts
  • Regular attendance
  • Monday-Friday, according to the work schedule provided

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The ability to lift 20-30 pounds will occasionally be required.

Chandler Preschool Benefits

  • Paid federal holidays (after 6 mo probationary period)
  • 1 week vacation after 1 yr of employment
  • 2 weeks vacation after 2 yrs of employment
  • 3 weeks of vacation after 3yrs of employment
  • 1 week of spring break vacation (center closed)
  • 1 week of summer vacation (center closed first week of July)
  • 2 weeks in December (center closed)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4.5 per week
