Accounting Associate

SUMMARY:

Our prominent and rapidly expanding Daytona Beach office has an immediate opening for a progressively experienced and highly dynamic Accounting Associate. Chanfrau & Chanfrau currently has three offices in Florida and is looking forward to expanding soon. We service clients in a variety of dedicated practices and industry areas.

As an Accounting Associate with Chanfrau & Chanfrau, the successful incumbent will be responsible for owning and leading all trust bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, and settlement check printing and dispositioning for the firm's varied trust accounts. The successful incumbent will work closely with attorneys, vendors, and clients to ensure Company trust accounting and client financials are accurate and complete.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and weekly accounting entries / month-end closing entries
  • Reconcile the General Ledger and multiple trust bank accounts
  • Perform accounts payable and receivable activities, including issuing checks and preparing bank deposits
  • Reconcile trust accounts monthly
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
  • Provide weekly reporting so team can follow up on settlement checks outstanding
  • Partner with other teams to support with reconciling client accounts
  • Maintain and update information in Quickbooks
  • File and maintain office file management – both physical and cloud-based
  • Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks supporting Management
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity
  • Adhere to Company, legal and regulatory compliance
  • Perform other duties and special ad hoc projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or related field and at least 2 years of experience performing accounting functions for a small to mid-sized law firm
  • Prior experience with accounting software (Quickbooks preferred)
  • Solid Microsoft Excel skills; ability to create and/or edit Excel spreadsheets is a must
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail
  • Approaches tasks and responsibilities with a can-do attitude and demonstrates intellectual curiosity and execution
  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; addresses matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on initiatives to successful completion, often with deadline pressure
  • Works well independently and is equally effective as playing a role on a cohesive team to achieve organization-wide projects/objectives
  • Self-starter, able to effectively multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
