Job title: Account Clerk

Shift: Day Shift (MON-THU-FRI)

Pay rate: $14.67/hr

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep and verify the accuracy of official financial records.
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Handle money, securities, and other valuables, including receiving, depositing, and distributing funds.
  • Authorize payments and prepare vouchers for approval.
  • Write checks, make payments, and audit transactions using the correct forms and records.
  • Review purchase requests for quality and price against contracts.
  • Calculate monthly profit-loss statements and other financial calculations.
  • Prepare financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Negotiate settlements for accounts.
  • Operate various office equipment and manage equipment purchases and repairs.
  • Manage leases, auctions, sales, and bids.
  • Perform additional related tasks as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping, auditing, contracts, and related procedures.
  • Familiarity with office functions and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and operate all office equipment.
  • Problem-solving skills, including handling new and unique issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure with diplomacy and confidentiality.
  • Good with numbers, business practices, and public relations.
  • Ability to accurately handle money and valuables and be eligible for bonding.

Work Complexity: The job involves a variety of tasks that change daily, requiring independent decision-making and applying established methods and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • You will work mostly independently, following general instructions and established procedures.
  • Approve payments and claims on state funds and handle purchases.
  • In the absence of the director, take responsibility for the work of others in the office.
  • Your work will be spot-checked for accuracy, as errors could cause significant inconvenience.

Personal Interactions: You will interact with a wide range of people, including your supervisor, co workers, other agency staff, contractors, and the public, to interpret policies, ensure duties are completed, and verify procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.(Required 5 Years)
  • Experience as an administrative or clerical assistant.(Required 2 Years)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in accurate data entry.(Required 5 Years)
  • Understanding of basic public accounting principles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in taking meeting notes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eligible to be bonded (insured for handling valuables).
  • Experience in a government agency (preferred).

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $14.67 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 per week
