About the job

As the EVSE Reliability Technician, you will be responsible for inspection of the EV charging station(s) and charging station components to ensure that all system components are clean and functioning within the designed specifications. Technicians will perform break/fix services for stations experiencing communication, software, and technical issues. The technician will report to the Field Service Manager.

You will receive specialized training for this position.

In this role, you will

  • Repair, maintain, troubleshoot and service electrical charging infrastructure using skills and tools that range from computer diagnostics to basic electrical tools 
  • Ensure that all services and projects are delivered on-time, within scope
  • Report and escalate issues to company management as needed 
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation 
  • Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project 
  • Attend conferences and training to stay up to date on training requirements and certifications
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • General knowledge of charging, EV automotive and/or vehicle systems 
  • Hands-on experience in either electrical, mechanical or other related field service experience; experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting

What's Essential

  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel up to but not limited 50% of the time via road and air
  • Basic computer skills
  • Electrical experience
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of field technician experience 
  • Completion of ChargerHelp! Training upon onboarding

Physical Requirements

  • The EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) Reliability Technician role involves various physical tasks and requirements. The job duties may include, but are not limited to:

    1. Lifting, carrying, and manipulating equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds.

    2. Standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, and crawling for extended periods while installing, maintaining, or repairing EVSE units.

    3. Working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, as some tasks may be performed outdoors.

    4. Climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms, or in confined spaces to access EVSE units.

    5. Pushing, pulling, and maneuvering tools, equipment, and EVSE components.

    6. Performing repetitive motions, such as tightening bolts, making electrical connections, and using hand tools.

    7. Possessing the ability to distinguish colors for proper wiring and diagnostics.

    8. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, such as safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and steel-toed boots.

    9. Possessing the visual acuity to read gauges, meters, and other diagnostic tools.

    10. Having the ability to hear and communicate effectively with team members and customers in noisy environments.

    The employee must be able to perform these physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation. The work may involve exposure to electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Safety precautions and adherence to OSHA guidelines are essential in this role.
