Salary Range:    $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 Salary/year

Description

The Development Manager, Events is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all development-related events to support Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School’s mission. This role works closely with the development team, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure that events align with organizational goals, foster donor engagement, and meet revenue targets.  The Development Manager, Events reports to the Director of Development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Event Planning and Management

  • Plans and executes approximately 12 annual events, including fundraising galas, donor cultivation/stewardship events, alumni gatherings, and other special initiatives.
  • Develops and manages detailed event timelines, budgets, and project plans.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to ensure all aspects of events are seamless and within budget.
  • Manages event logistics, including venue selection, contracts, catering, audio/visual needs, and décor.
  • Collaborates with the Communications department to conceptualize marketing materials, including event registration, attendee communications, and follow-up processes.
  • Track expenses, providing regular updates to the development team.
  • Maintain event records, including attendee lists, sponsorship details, and post-event evaluations.
  • Analyze event outcomes and provide recommendations for future improvements

Volunteer and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers and committees.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for event committees, ensuring clear communication and alignment with event objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with alumni, community partners, and other key stakeholders to support event success.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in event planning, fundraising, or a related role.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong collaborative work style.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and financial tracking for events.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours as needed for events.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or educational institution.
  •  Knowledge of Jewish traditions and culture.
