Charley's Philly Steaks is Hiring a Franchise Opening Manager Near Columbus, OH

AccountabilityThe Franchise Opening Manager works with Strategic-partners and all internal departments to facilitate the flow of information throughout the Charleys system. The Franchise Opening Manager gathers, compiles, and disseminates existing and added information, feedback, and system enhancements regarding Brand Standards, to help Charleys build brand loyalty with each guest experience on an ongoing basis. The Franchise Opening Manager is responsible for helping Strategic-partners and Corporate-owned stores through each of the following stages of development
  • Initial Training (Onboarding and Operational)
  • Construction process
  • On-site opening training
  • Grand Opening Scheduling
Key Result AreasA “Key Result Area” (KRA) is an area of performance in which the Franchise Opening Manager must be successful if you are to meet your accountabilities. Franchise Opening Manager KRAs are as follows
Protect and Promote the Charleys Brand
  • Communicate Brand Standards to Strategic partners.
  • Ensure Strategic-partner coordinates with Marketing to create New Store Opening plan.
  • Represent Charleys Vision, Mission, and Core Values
New Restaurant Openings
  • Tracking construction, pre-opening, and project status milestones to help insure on-time openings/conversions.
  • Coordinate Strategic-partner and/or Franchise Operator attendance at Charleys Management training.
  • Obtain copies of required permits and licenses from Strategic-partners and Corporate-owned stores
  • Schedule On-site Opening training date with appropriate FOMs and communicate training date to all departments.
  • Communicate Grand Opening date to all departments to include NSO 100 program.
  • Work cross-departmentally to ensure all Opening and Conversion tasks are completed.
Effective Communication
  • First line of communication for Strategic-partners and Corporate-owned stores regarding opening process
  • Conduct weekly phone conferences with Strategic partners to track progress on the 12 Week Checklist. Calls start once construction begins. (Also, with Corporate owned stores - real estate/project management team)
  • Prompt response to inquiries
  • Constantly promoting the Charleys Vision, Mission, and Core Values
  • Communicates with Training department regarding New S-P/Manager Management training and On-Site Opening training schedules with FOMs.
  • Communicates with FBCs and New Restaurant Director of Ops regarding opening schedules and new standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Use “consultative process” (not authoritarian approach) in communication
  • Foster strategic-partner mindset
  • Ensure Strategic partners understand the philosophy and strategy of brand standards.
Internal Relationship
  • Communicates with Training department and On-Site Opening Training Team, FBCs and Directors
  • Communicates with internal departments and subject matter experts, disseminates to FBCs and FOMs
  • Participates in meetings and conferences as requested.
  • Reports to Director of New Restaurant Openings
Training Requirements
  • Charleys New Team Member Store Orientation Training
  • Knowledge of Charleys brand standards and operating systems
  • SP Business Consulting Training
  • Knowledge of Charleys FDD and Franchise Agreement
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Identifying potential problems and points of friction within New Store Opening tools and systems and finding solutions to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Brainstorms, designs, and promotes improvements to processes or equipment to improve safety, quality, customer service and reduce cost.
  • Operations subject matter expert (SME) to ensure that new store opens will deliver against their intended objectives of sales and opening dates.
  • Be an agent for change and support the deployment, adoption, and sustainment of a variety of Operations and new store initiatives.
  • Utilizes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and business drivers to synchronize and prioritize improvement efforts of new store opens (minimize pre-open days and sales)
  • Deliver on the organization’s priorities / goals, working cross-functionally with a variety of departments in defining, scoping, preparing, and implementing new initiatives to the New Store Opening process.
  • Keep leadership informed by effectively and clearly communicating project effort, progress, achievements, obstacles, and failures on a timely basis.
  • Uses approved organization process (One Note, Smartsheet) to keep NSO on track effectively, extremely organized to keep all parties (Director NSO, Region Operations Director, Franchise Business Consultant, Support Teams) involved with the status of the open.
  • Prioritize workload and meet established project deadlines.
  • Supports the IDP process, able to support development for future growth to the FBC position.
Accountabilities
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge and skill in all areas of operations and training.
  • Role-models Charleys policies and procedures
  • Contacts SPs consistently prior to opening to schedule assistance as required.
  • Communicates with the Director of New Restaurant Opens, Director of Operations and Franchise Business Consultant throughout the opening process sharing the status of opening related milestones, potential delays, or other opening related issues.
  • Utilizes the New Restaurant Opening Guide and 12 Week Smartsheet Checklist throughout the process to ensure a successful opening.
  • Confer with the Strategic Business Partners (SP) regarding hiring, placing food orders, uniform order & New Restaurant Opening Guide
  • Works with SP regarding pre-opening schedule, training, shift control, scheduling, order & daily activities. Spends five days with current SP at the restaurant prior to opening, day of opening and one day post opening completing pre-open / open / post open tasks with the GP. New SP requires an additional four day’s post opening support.
