Charlotte Behavioral Health Care is Hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (PRN) Near Punta Gorda, FL

Licensed Practical Nurse (PRN) - $1,500 Sign-on Bonus

Charlotte Behavioral Health Care (CBHC) - Central Receiving Facility (CRF), Punta Gorda, FL

The CRF is an inpatient, 30 bed, secure, psychiatric unit that provides treatment/services to stabilize patients (adults and children) who are a danger to themselves and/or others due to mental illness or substance use disorder (SUD). This includes patients under the Baker and Marchman Acts, as well as patients who request voluntary admission. The staff includes nursing, behavioral health technicians, clinicians, and a psychiatrist. These disciplines work together as a treatment team to create a therapeutic environment and provide patient safety and care. Patients stay at the CRF for a brief time period for stabilization and are offered follow-up services to help them maintain psychiatric stability.

Position Summary

Employee performs duties normally associated with LPN PRN licensure at the CRF. This includes nursing examination/assessment, medication administration, monitoring vital signs, monitors for medication effectiveness or signs of adverse reactions, and monitors for signs/symptoms of detoxification. Provides medication and diagnosis-related information to the patient, family member(s), and answers questions as appropriate. Reviews medical record, transcribes, and/or prepares documents for doctors or APRNs review and signature. LPN PRN will also document daily progress notes and is responsible for comprehensive and timely documentation. LPN also works closely with behavioral health technicians and may provide direction during the shift.

Salary & Benefits

LPN PRNs are paid $2 more an hour and base pay ranges from $24.25 - $28.25 an hour based on experience. Additionally, LPN PRNs receive pay differentials for working weekends, over night, and for picking up last minutes shifts. This means an LPN PRNs working overnights or weekends can make as much as $35.25 an hour.

In addition, full-time staff compensation package includes the following (these details are for information purposes and are subject to any policy or plan changes) options:

  • 403B Retirement Package: CBHC provides a 9%, unmatched, retirement contribution through Nationwide after employee eligibility.
  • Insurance Plans: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Supplemental. Eligible employees are able to enroll in medical, dental, vision, and supplemental plans effective the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.
  • Holiday and Leave Benefits: CBHC pays full-time staff 11 annual holidays. Additionally, paid time off for full-time employees includes PTO accrual for bi-weekly pay periods. Leave accruals are based upon employees' years of service with CBHC.
  • Licensure renewal reimbursement and CEUs for those who qualify.

Minimum Requirements

  • FL LPN license, prefer minimum two years of experience working in behavioral health/substance use environment.
  • Knowledge of Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) is an asset.
  • Must have good computer skills in order to enter and retrieve information in an electronic medical record.
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, treatment team, caregivers, family/support system, and community representatives.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and documentation skills to ensure accurate progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Ability to demonstrate compliance with CBHC policies and procedures, especially confidentiality and CBHC's code of conduct.
