Background on Southbridge Public Schools:

Southbridge Public Schools serve approximately 2,200 students in six schools. The district is presently undergoing extensive turnaround at all levels, with the assistance of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This creates unique opportunities for teachers and students. One example is a recently announced, long-term partnership with the University of Connecticut to develop Southbridge Schools to be a national demonstration site for successful implementation of PBIS strategies. Additionally, our district is the recipient of a number of significant grants that are allowing us to creatively redesign Secondary School, curriculum enhancements, improved culture and climate and afterschool opportunities for students. JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Monitor students with illness symptoms while waiting to be dismissed in designated space
• Provides supervision and care for students in the medical waiting room (isolation room)
• Takes direction from and assists the school nurse with duties as requested
• Assists with the general school population arrival and dismissal procedures
• Any other duty as assigned by the Principal in the building to assist with daily school routines

JOB REQUIRMENTS:

• Current valid Massachusetts licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse with current Massachusetts certification
• Current CPR/AED/BLS certification
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in acute care, community health or child health
• Valid CORI is required
• Suitable “fingerprinting” results are required before employment can begin.
