Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma, completion of GED or equivalent courses preferred
2. Previous experience as a Custodian preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Day Lead - Work with Facilities manager and prepare to hand off remaining work to the night lead.
2. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
3. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
4. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
5. Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
6. Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.
7. Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
8. Washes all windows on both inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
9. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.
10. Cleans all dry erase boards at least once a week.
11. Report major repairs needed promptly to the Facilities Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Medium work: ability to lift, push and/or pull objects, which may approximate 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for up to six (6) continuous hours.
• Ability to stand, stoop, reach and bend; mobility of arms to reach, dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate large and small objects.
• Ability to smell, taste and feel, in order to determine quality of food products.
• Work with caustic and non-caustic chemicals.
• Ability to work with frequent interruption and to supervise a variety of tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The employee may be required to work around loud noise.
• Ability to work in an inside environment.
• Ability to work in a hot environment.
