The Accounting Specialist is responsibleto Director of Accounting for the timely and accurate compilation and postingof Credit Union/CUSO transactions, branch balancing, credit unioninvoices. Prepares accountreconcilements and properly maintains subsidiary systems.
Responsibleand Accountable for:

• Part of account reconcilement.
• Provides comments on auditor’s queries concerning the assigned general ledger accounts.
• Provides recommendations to management for streamlining processes and reducing costs.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities:

• Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and software for the following:
• General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Investments.
• Knowledge in general ledger reconcilement. Ability to research and correct errors in the general ledger. Responsible for the clearing of outstanding items in the assigned general ledger accounts and escalate issues when they arise.
• Ability to prepare financial, analysis and statistical reports.
• Ability to process and post invoices and issue checks from Prologue Accounts Payable system.
• Ability to perform fixed asset setup and disposal in Prologue Fixed Asset system. Ability to input and maintain prepaids and accruals in Prologue General Ledger System.
• Knowledge of the preparation of month-end accruals, overheads and adjusting entries for monthly financial preparation.
• Ability to order, reconcile, and manage currency for all branches and ATMs. Ability to monitor, track and transfer funds between corporate accounts.
• Knowledge of processing accounting records for money orders, bonds sold and redeemed and travelers’ checks inventory/sales.
• Knowledge of cashier’s checks, insurance claim and premium refund filing, invoicing, credit card/cash advances, dealer reserves, sales tax filing, Check 21 balancing and corporate statement downloading.

Educationand Experience:

• Education: Associates or Bachelors degree with exposure to Accounting or equivalent experience with Accounting courses.
• Experience: Approximately one to three years of experience in the Accounting environment.
