Chattanooga Preparatory School is an all-boys public charter school that opened its doors to students in August 2018. Located in the Highland Park area, close to downtown Chattanooga, we are positioned to provide a unique and impactful educational opportunity for the young men in our urban communities. To engage young men in a rigorous yet supportive learning environment that nurtures resilience, promotes academic excellence, inspires leadership, and prepares critical thinkers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instructs students in math within a small classroom environment.
  • Creates and delivers lessons based on focus areas for students in middle school.
  • Aligns instruction with standards, and student data.
  • Attends Student Success Team meetings and assists teams in developing individual strategies for success. 
  • Follow up with students and families regarding sessions assigned and attendance. 
  • Provides direct instruction in small groups. 
  • Collects growth data of subjects that are standards based. 
  • Conduct and research new intervention practices/strategies.
  • Shares data with the content and Principal and Chief Academic Officer.
  • Continuously monitors progress of students receiving intervention services, in order to adjust instructional practice and student grouping. 
  • Maintains a tracking system which indicates student appointment times, progress, and areas of improvement. 
  • Monitors student performance within the areas of class work, attendance and discipline as needed. 
  • Other duties as required by the Principal and Chief Academic Officer.
  • Experience as a teacher/ coach in the capacity of working with middle school age students

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a current math certification through the State of Tennessee.
  • A self-starter interested in working in a fast-paced, startup environment that requires flexibility.
  • A high level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • An unwavering commitment to high academic achievement and expectations of all students.
  • A capacity to motivate and lead in order to yield the highest academic performance possible from all students.
  • A team-oriented approach and the ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to give constructive feedback to facilitate student growth and academic achievement.
  • Openness to receiving feedback on issues that will facilitate the growth and achievement of both students and faculty.
  • Experience in working with secondary students in urban environments.
  • Evidence of advancing student achievement on state assessments required if the candidate has prior teaching experience. If the candidate does not have prior teaching experience, evidence of achieving ambitious goals is required.

*This position includes an $8,000 signing bonus*
