It is our pleasure to welcome you to Chvez/Huerta K-12 Preparatory Academy (CHPA) and our innovative schools Csar Chvez Academy (CCA- K-5th), Ersilia Cruz Middle School (ECMS 6th 8th ) and Dolores Huerta Preparatory High (DHPH 9th 12th). We focus on providing students learning opportunities to develop skill sets that will contribute to their educational success. Csar Chvez Academy (2001) and Dolores Huerta Preparatory High (2004) were formed by a diverse group of community members committed to the preparation of Pueblos students for success as young scholars, citizens of the world, and leade...rs of character regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds. Our diverse culture embraces the meritorious service of Csar Chvez and Dolores Huerta, dedicated leaders in the pursuit of equality and recipients of the Presidential Award of Freedom. With the ambitious mission to prepare each student for success in college, CHPA provides a rigorous college preparatory program in a supportive and challenging learning environment and is the only Pueblo school to provide a seamless K-12 education built on virtues of integrity. Ersilia Cruz Middle School was named after community advocate, Ersilia Cruz, who was dedicated to improving the community she loved. Through hard work and dedication, her efforts resulted in many improvements in the Hyde Park community including the development of Hyde Park Gardens and the redevelopment and improvement of the neighborhood park. Mrs. Cruzs desire and determination to provide all students the opportunities to achieve success through education played a pivotal role in the opening of the Csar Chavez Academy. Her efforts to take care of the families living in Hyde Park will never be forgotten. Here at CHPA, we are Building a Legacy of Success and aim for excellence in all we do.
