Title: Pathways, Internship and School To Work Manager (SY24-25)
Location: Chelsea High School
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent
About Chelsea Public SchoolsThe Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. ResponsibilitiesOversee Chelsea High School Student Internship Program including
  • Recruit, cultivate and maintain robust internship placements for students with community
  • organizations and business in Chelsea.
  • Seek out opportunities that provide students with the opportunity to cultivate and apply real world skills aligned to the Pathways & Early College programs.
  • Support internship partnerships through individual and large group meetings
  • Revise and implement Internship experience course for Interns (i.e., expectations, Give Back Project, Reflection Journal);
  • Revise Internship site expectations packet; conduct a 2-3 pre internship workshops to teach workplace skills and professionalism;
  • Develop, distribute and evaluate Internship Application and placement of interns; secure internship sites by continued communication with individual sites;
  • Develop and refine Mentor/Mentee gatherings (i.e., opening and closing breakfast/dinner;
  • Plan and conduct orientation for interns, mentors and placement directors; supervise interns at placements, including site visits, review of student logs and journals and regular/weekly phone calls to placement sites;
  • Schedule and assess End of Internship Projects; network for following years placements
  • At end of Internships, meet with site mentors for reflection of program;
Support Career Pathways Programs to thrive
  • Establish and coordinate Guest Speaker Series which includes inviting and scheduling guest speakers for career pathways (one speaker per week for each Pathway);
  • Collaborate and coordinate with pathways teachers;
  • Work with pathways teachers/administration to coordinate program within the Pathways; schedule related field trips when applicable;
  • Coordinate and help with Pathways and Early College end of year procedures and celebrations.
Oversee and redesign the Student Worker program
  • Oversee recruitment of students to enroll in Program,
  • Support application and onboarding processes, timesheets
  • Engage in ongoing communication with Program Mentors;
  • Conduct meetings and workshops with small group and individualized students based on transferable job skills; conduct regular site visits to work sites; build community relationships;
  • Work with outside partners to support student learning and growth in the work field; manage an employment board and track jobs available to our student;
Job Readiness Programming
  • Organize 2 job fairs in collaboration with MassHire per year along with smaller events during lunch and after school.
  • Support College and Career Fair (two per year) planning, preparation, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with MassHire Job Coach in providing services to students at CHS, ensuring students are following through with appointment expectations and continuing to build a collaborative approach that meets student needs.
  • Meet with students one-on-one and groups to provide resume preparation and career Additional responsibilities, as appropriate, may be added at the discretion of the assistant superintendent and principal such as supporting pathways and Early College readiness workshops, recruitment, programming, and cohesion.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree or higher preferred from an accredited college or university,
  • Ability to work with diverse population;
  • Ability to work with community and business organizations;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Terms: Minimum $50,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, 12 Month work year; 8 hour day position. This position is scheduled to start on July 1st, 2024.
