Cherokee Federal is Hiring a Structural Engineer Near Honolulu, HI

Job DescriptionStructural EngineerThis position will provide labor and mechanic operations support to NAVFAC PAC Planning Design and Construction Design Technical Support Services. A Structural Engineer is a professional responsible for designing, analyzing, and ensuring the safety and stability of structures such as buildings, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Structural Engineer: Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Structural Engineer Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform structural analysis and design of building vertical and lateral force resisting systems
  • Design retaining structures, utility structures, or waterfront structures (piers, wharves, etc.)
  • Utilize DoD UFC or industry codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC) and ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures
  • Design structural elements using common building materials such as concrete, steel, and masonry
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Identify and resolve structural issues during the design and construction phases.
  • Implement and enforce safety measures and conduct risk assessments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Structural Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Engineering college curriculum.
  • Minimum four (4)-year degree with at least six (6) years of Design Management and/or Design experience .
  • U.S. Professional Engineering Registration (P.E.) in the relevant discipline (i.e. mechanical design technical support requires a mechanical engineering license) is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Engineering principles and expertise in the relevant discipline
  • Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering project design
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and briefing management personnel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), AutoCAD, and/or Revit; ability to adapt to new software such as eCMS, MS Teams, and Zoom
  • United States citizenship required
  • Security clearance - SECRET (TIER 3) preferred or must be able to obtain interim security clearance prior to onboarding
  • Provide satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship (U.S. or naturalized)
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
