Surge Manager

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

This role involves coordinating emergency support across offices and divisions to advance the organization's mission. The candidate will ensure government capability to provide critical support to hospitals during crises, act as deputy program manager for surge activities, and report to the Program Manager. Responsibilities include overseeing strategic communications, developing disaster preparedness plans, mitigating supply chain risks, and offering strategic assistance on emerging issues to ASPR and HPP leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Surge Manager: Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Surge Manager Responsibilities Include: 

  • Setting up additional support across its offices and divisions before, during, or after an emergency to further its mission.
  • Ensure the government is able to provide hospitals with mission-critical support during times of crises.
  • Serving as a deputy program manager on surge-related activities, and reporting to the Program Manager.
  • Overseeing strategic communications, including providing strategic guidance and support for engagement with internal and external stakeholder communities.
  • Develop and execute a plan to identify needs, skills, assets, and capabilities for disaster events. 
  • Develop mitigations plans for potential supply chain risks and shortages.
  • Provide ad hoc strategy assistance to address emerging issues and priorities of ASPR and HPP leadership.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Surge Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 10-12 years of experience in emergency disaster preparedness. 
  • Experience providing and managing surge support for emergency management.
  • Experience managing surge support within both urban and rural environments. 
  • Adapt at risk mitigation strategy and implementation for disaster scenarios. 
  • Experience developing solutions for supply chain risks and shortages.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience at Health and Human Services (HHS).
  • Familiarity with ASPR’s Emergency Care Coordination Center (ECCC).
  • Experience organizing surge response teams in different geographies within the US.
  • Proficient in understanding and respecting diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering inclusive environments, and effectively communicating across cultures. 
  • Ability to lead and manage large groups of people.
  • Logistical expertise as it relates to personnel and human resources. 
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities. 
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
