JOB SUMMARY: The District is invested in innovations in all aspects of teacher education and professional development, an initiative we label Teacher Residency. Utilizing a full year of release, in collaboration with a cadre of educators, design and implement an innovative instructional model focusing on enhancing student achievement through cutting-edge teaching strategies and staffing models. Demonstrate effective leadership that promotes an exemplary educational program focused on fostering student achievement in collaboration with the Teacher Residency Program. Guide the development of an aligned and coherent standards-based instructional system in accordance with the Board of Education policies. Manage the human resources and inspire vision, motivate excellence in instruction, and model service-oriented administration. Serve as a member of the Administration Council (AdCo).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. 1.

Articulate the District's values through voice and actions, communicating the vision for the Teacher Residency Program, and being the change agent when necessary. Coordinate and ensure the implementation of the District's mission, vision, goals, and strategic initiatives.

2.

Lead and organize school operations to include management of personnel, facility management, financial resources, public relationships, and coordination of effective instruction programming with a cohesive building/school schedule in order to provide a quality learning environment. [Daily, 15%]

3.

Supervise and evaluate the individual and group performance of personnel. Interview, hire, train, discipline, and terminate employees. Develop and monitor all members of the staff to build their capacity to meet the learning needs of the students.

4.

Assess the quality of classroom instruction through monitoring of, being visible to, examining, and communicating with Certified personnel.

5.

Manage the financial resources of the program by developing, administering, monitoring, and coordinating its budget, including the development and monitoring of awarded grants.

6.

Uphold federal and state laws, contracts, and District policies. Ensure and oversee that all programs are in accordance with required regulations and regulating agencies.

Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders as needed.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This job has supervisor responsibilities including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, directing work, assigning work, supervising work, training, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating. Direct reports:
  • Certified Teacher including Mentor Teacher
  • Certified Special Service Provider
  • Teacher Residency Program CADRE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
  • Master's degree in education administration, curriculum leadership, or related field
  • Five (5) years of professional work experience in school administration, school leadership, teaching, or related field
  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Principal license
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis, curriculum and instruction, budgeting and accounting, special education laws, and master agreement/labor relations
  • Intermediate organizational skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced interpersonal relations skills
  • Advanced skills in human relations, leadership, and organizational theory
  • Advanced skills in public relations, conflict resolution, and problem solving
  • Advanced skills in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels
  • Ability to be flexible and patient and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to effectively motivate and supervise people
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
  • Ability to promote and follow the Board of Education policies, District policies, and building and department procedures, protocols, and guidelines
