SUPERVISOR: School Principal
SUMMARY: Supervise and coordinate a school's theater technical activities. Support each participant in achieving a higher level of personal skill, gaining an enhanced appreciation for theater,, and fostering an increased level of self-esteem through rehearsals and performances. Cherry Creek High School's award-winning theater program is looking for a tech director focused on construction. The position is typically a 5 day per week commitment: after school 3:45pm-6pm and some weekend scheduling based on production demands. Some flexibility is available for the right candidate. We produce one large fall play (performed early November), a large winter musical (performed in March), and a small spring play (performed in April). This position will focus on the technical theater and production aspect of our after-school theater program (specially construction and student engineering/design). The successful candidate will not be asked to direct acting performances but will oversee the day-to-day work of our tech theater students. This posting is in respective to theater, not band.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe following tasks describe the basic functions of the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. [Daily, 30%]
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences. Direct theater performers. [Daily, 30%]
  • Obtain and use, if requested, evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs. [Daily, 15%]
  • Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all theater technical equipment. [Daily, 10%]
  • Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in band. [Daily, 5%]
  • Ensure that program is cost-effective and funds are managed wisely. [Daily, 5%]
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a participant and/or advisor in a band production.
  • Intermediate communication skills.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
