The Payroll Specialist performs various complex accounting functions which include processing payroll, developing various reports by researching and gathering information, statistics, maintaining confidential payroll records, collecting, organizing, and reporting financial information used in audits, budget development.

Working in an integrated team model, the Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day processing of invoices for payment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting or related field preferred, High School education required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in performing bookkeeping, accounting and payroll functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and guidance to employees, answer questions, research and resolve payroll issues.
  • Oversee all payroll processing and related activities. Establish checks and balances to ensure payroll compliance and accuracy.
  • Work directly with Human Resources department to ensure accurate new employee information and benefits processing.
  • Work directly with Payroll Processing Company and Human Resources to ensure the system runs effectively.
  • Initiate changes in work assignments or processing to improve efficiency.
  • Develop and implement payroll procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for greater efficiency.
  • Ensure payroll statements and reports are prepared and reviewed.
  • Compile payroll data as needed.
  • Disseminate a variety of payroll-related information to internal locations.
  • Work in collaboration with the Human Resources Department to ensure reconciliation of employee deductions; issue and process any refunds to employees.
  • Work in collaboration with the Human Resources Department to ensure balancing and submission of data to the third-party administrator of contributions.
  • Work in collaboration with the Human Resources Department to ensure balancing and submission of employee and company match of 403(b) contributions.
  • Assist Human Resources in gathering data and reconciling the 403(b), Flex accounts, Coinsurance premiums, etc. as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Work under limited supervision.
  • Work independently with strong planning, organization, and execution skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to research, compile and interpret a variety of informational and statistical data.
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes and other statutory deductions.
  • Knowledge in demographic tracking as required by law.
  • Experience with UKG desired.
