*POSITION SUMMARY*The Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) is responsible for providing primary care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. He/she works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care. This position reports to their supervising physician or Department Head.*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES*_Achieve Results_* Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assesses presenting illness, risk factors, and family history psychosocial situations, and cultural factors; and perform appropriate physical examinations.* Develops and implements treatment plan. Prescribes/dispenses medications in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws. May handle minor lacerations, biopsies, etc. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention.* Prepares documentation for medical records which includes updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner.* Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, continuing education, and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies and procedures.* Consults/Collaborates with physicians when appropriate in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patient.
