Minimum Qualifications

Who We Are:
The Adult Substance Use Outpatient and Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) program is seeking a passionate self-starter to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position is an individual newer to the field or who is early in the licensure supervision process who displays genuine compassion for working with individuals impacted by substance use, co-occurring mental health, and trauma.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Human Services field; one year of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and developing behavior plans; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Currently under supervision for professional licensure in the State of Virginia (LCSW or LPC) or are eligible to begin supervision towards their LCSW or LPC. One year experience providing services to individuals diagnosed with a substance use disorder is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment.
Preferred knowledge of evidence-based practices for co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of the ASAM Criteria and experiencing using this criterion to determine treatment recommendations is preferred. Knowledge of trauma informed treatment techniques, motivational interviewing, and medication assisted treatments (Suboxone, Methadone, Vivitrol) is preferred. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team environment and have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Additional Requirements
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provides billable substance use case management, individual therapy, and group therapy to adults who meet criteria for diagnosis of a substance use disorder and/or co-occurring mental health condition.
  • Performs comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments to determine diagnostic criteria and therapeutic needs in order to make appropriate treatment recommendations and to develop a client centered treatment plan.
  • Completes timely clinical documentation within an electronic health record ensuring to meet applicable regulations including for CARF, Licensure, and Medicaid.
  • Participates in case consults, weekly supervision, and weekly team meetings within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborates with community providers including Community Corrections, Probation and Parole, Department of Social Services.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Shift

Monday - Friday with two required evening shifts until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Option for either a five-day work week or four-day work week.
