Minimum Qualifications

Who We Are:
The Adult Substance Use Services Outpatient Program is seeking qualified applicants for a Services Supervisor position within our ASAM Level 1.0 Outpatient Clinic. The Services Supervisor oversees the delivery of integrated behavioral health services by promoting the wellness of individuals, their families, and the community through outreach, advocacy, treatment, and education. We are seeking a candidate who values diversity and inclusion as well as compassionate care techniques as they are embedded in a community mental health outpatient program that supports trauma-informed care practices.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling, nursing or a related field; three years of increasingly responsible experience in the provision of mental health services to include two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A minimum of three years’ experience providing therapy services to individuals in a Community Services Board setting is preferred. Experience providing clinical or administrative supervision to Licensed-Eligible or Licensed providers is preferred. Professional licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) and registration with the Department of Health Professions in the State of Virginia is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of theories, principles and practices of community behavioral, prevention and/or ID programming; of principles and techniques of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with behavioral health disorders; of relevant mental health laws. Ability to plan and organize a behavioral health project and/or components of a program; to interpret and apply county, state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines related to the assigned program; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; to supervise staff. Considerable knowledge and experience in the provision of evidence-based therapy practices for individuals with histories of substance use, co-occurring mental health, and trauma is strongly preferred. Experience developing and implementing training programs for clinical staff and leading through change preferred. An ability to promote team cohesion while balancing the needs of the community preferred. Demonstrated ability to respond to changing and competing priorities and being able to navigate and assist others in navigating technology to perform their daily work preferred.
Additional Requirements
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Duties:
The Services Supervisor oversees the delivery of integrated behavioral health services by promoting the wellness of individuals, their families, and the community through outreach, advocacy, treatment, and education.
Duties also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision to a team of licensed therapists embedded within a large multidisciplinary team including being responsible for recruitment and onboarding of new staff as well as coaching and mentoring;
  • Ensures the program is meeting CARF, Licensure, and Medicaid requirements by reviewing policies and procedures and performing quality assurance reviews of charts;
  • Works closely with the leadership team and staff to continually develop the program through ongoing assessment of needs, researching and implementing evidence-based practices, and making strategic decisions to improve program quality and outcomes;
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote the program, to enhance connection and communication throughout the agency and county, and to monitor and manage referrals;
  • Maintains a small caseload of consumers for individual therapy and provides coverage of assessments and groups as needed;
  • May participate in budget preparation and planning and assist in administering assigned budget; and
  • Performs other related duties as required.
