Company Description

The Chicago City Council Office of Financial Analysis (COFA) was established in 2015 to provide the City Council with an independent analysis of fiscal implications for various issues. COFA collaborates with the City Council's Committee on Budget and Government Operations to utilize financial analysis tools for budget recommendations, forecasts, audits, proposed public-private partnerships or asset leases, bond rating agency actions, and other relevant matters upon request. Additionally, COFA delivers an options report detailing potential cost-saving reforms and efficiencies.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a Legislative Budget Analyst at the Chicago City Council Office of Financial Analysis (COFA). The Legislative Budget Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and assessing budgets, participating in the budget process, utilizing analytical skills to evaluate financial statements, and managing programs as required. The role involves working closely with the City Council's Committee on Budget and Government Operations to provide accurate and timely financial information and recommendations.

  • Analytical Skills for evaluating financial statements
  • Program Management
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of local government finance and budgeting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in financial analysis software and tools (Data Visualization preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
