Chicago Proton Center is Hiring a Radiation Therapist Team Lead, F/T 2nd Shift Near Warrenville, IL

Description

The Radiation Therapy Team Lead reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Attends departmental morning huddle and is point person for department.
  • Reviews radiation doses and other appropriate computations from tables or computerized treatment plans.
  • Conduct simulations to develop patient treatment plans and ensure effective delivery of radiation therapy.
  • Administers radiation therapy in accordance with treatment plan.
  • Assesses patient during daily treatments for reactions or changes in physical/mental performance; reports changes to radiation oncologist, as necessary, for further assessment.
  • Maintains communication with patient and family members explaining procedures to be performed, reinforcing instructions from the radiation oncologist and providing continual reassurance.
  • Operates and maintains equipment; notifies appropriate personnel of problems.
  • Charts treatment parameters and records daily treatment information.
  • Ability to download and transfer electronic patient data into hospital EMR system.
  • Responsible for supply inventory and ordering as well as evaluation of new equipment.
  • Coordinates the patient scheduling activities of the department based on established protocols.
  • Anticipates future staffing needs and assists in making the necessary arrangements for coverage.
  • Assumes responsibility for efficient and effective use of time and effort of all staff.
  • Maintains patient scheduling and staff assignments, which facilitate overall patient's flow.
  • Serves as a Liaison between the therapists, clinic, physics, nursing, and clerical areas of the department.
  • Assures compliance with established protocols, in addition to regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in evaluations and provides feedback regarding Therapists' performance of treatments, motivation, education, and orientation.
  • Accountable for technical efforts and competency.
  • Ensures quality through routine chart checking, maintenance of daily treatment record, evaluation of treatment environment, and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Reviews issues/problems, recommends action to ensure compliance.
  • Performs all therapeutic protocols and procedures as needed.
  • Provides input to the Manager on budget planning, particularly revenue, staffing and cost containment strategies.
  • Assists in the training and orientation of new staff and in the instruction of Radiation Therapy students and Radiation Oncology Residents.
  • Functions as the mentor/role model for the clinical and technical practices.
  • Works on patient focus studies
  • Actively participate in patient satisfaction results
  • Participate in ACoS, ACR and Joint Commission surveys as necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2 to 3 years of undergraduate education or equivalent
  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology Program
  • State of Illinois IEMA Division of Nuclear Safety License
  • A.R.R.T
  • BLS through American Heart Association
  • Five years’ experience as a Radiation Therapist

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
