Child and Family Guidance Center is Hiring an After School Special Needs Child Care Staff - Fall 2024 Near West, MN

Do you love working with kids? Come join School District 197 School Age Care team working with children in grades K-8. We are looking for individuals with a passion for childcare and enjoy working with kids to assist the site supervisor(s) in providing quality and age appropriate school age care.
We strongly believe that diversity of experience contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to a better school system and better results for all students. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our team wherever we can and we actively encourage all to consider becoming a part of it. Some of the job responsibilities include:
  • Assist in the implementation and preparation of curriculum and enrichment activities for students
  • Assist in guiding children’s behavior using a positive and consistent style
  • Ability to implement emergency procedures
  • Participate with children in activities
Pay & Schedule:
  • Position will start on August 26, 2023. Applicants must be able to work 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Aug. 26 -Aug. 30, 2024 for staff development and site set up. September 3rd will be the first day with SAC participants.
  • Competitive pay, starting at $21.88 - $23.48 (may be eligible to receive a stipend)
  • Part time opportunities available - up to 20 hrs/week
  • Various shifts available in the morning: 6:30 am - 7:30 am, afternoon: 2 pm - 6 pm Monday through Friday
Benefits include:
  • Health, dental, life insurance, long term disability plus sick, vacation etc. for over 25 hrs/week
  • Ability to stack hours with other paraprofessional positions to qualify for benefits
  • Strong support network with ongoing staff development and a team environment
Qualifications:
  • One of the following:
    • Two or more years of post secondary training in education or related field
    • Successful completion of the ParaPro assessment
    • AA degree in education or related field
    • 90 credits or more in education or related field
  • Experience working with children with special needs
  • Experience with children with high needs in group situations, good communication skills, high degree of flexibility
  • Experience working with children of diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check
