Child Care Associates is Hiring an Assistant Director of Center-Based Early Childhood Services Near Fort Worth, TX

Summary

The Assistant Director of Center-Based Early Childhood Services is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to ensure children and their families receive comprehensive Head Start and Early Head Start services that exceed Head Start Program Performance Standards and the Texas Minimum Licensing Standards. The Assistant Director will partner with the Director of Center-Based Early Childhood Services and other Head Start Leadership to ensure implementation of effective high-quality services that improve child and family outcomes and provides a positive impact on early childhood services in Tarrant County. The Assistant Director will participate on the Head Start Management Team and will collaborate across the agency including with Quality Assurance, Facilities & Maintenance, Human Resources and Finance.

Duties

 Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (ECE) or a closely related field with at least 30 credit hours in ECE with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a formal childcare environment.

 Supervisory experience managing multisite early childhood programs;

 Child Care Licensing State Director credential or the business hours necessary to be designated as a center director;

 Knowledge of federal and state requirements such as Head Start Performance Standards, Texas Child Care Regulation and public procurement practices;

 Prior experience requiring time management and organizational skills to manage large groups or projects;

 Ability to anticipate and/or proactively address problems and successfully arrive at a recommended solution;

 Effective communication skills with all levels of personnel, parents & children;

 Microsoft Office proficiency as well as the ability to utilize software systems and leverage technology as an effective management and communications tool;

 Demonstrated success in program management, including operational and financial management, evaluation and assessment, and continuous improvement for educational programs;

 Demonstrated experience and expertise in implementing Head Start standards and systems;

 Demonstrated ability in leading collaborative teams with open, transparent communication;

 Demonstrated experience building, leading and inspiring a diverse team of committed professionals with extensive experience in early learning and care, and family engagement;

 Access to reliable insured transportation, and

 Must be able to pass a pre-employment and/or periodic physical examination, annual TB skin test, and complete background check every 24 months

 Assists with analyzing and assessment of overall center services, activities, and trends to determine campus needs;

 Supports the hiring process for Campus Directors and other campus base staff;

 Assists with the individual and cumulative performance and quality delivery of services for assigned Head Start and Early Head Start campuses;

 Provides direct supervision and ongoing evaluation of Campus Directors;

 Facilitates reflective supervision for Campus Directors at least monthly;

 Assists with the supervision of direct and indirect staff assigned to directly operated campuses;

 Assists with ensuring that daily center operations, staffing requirements and staff-child ratios meet Minimum Standards and Head Start Performance Standards at assigned centers;

 Remains knowledgeable of agency personnel policies;

 Collaborates with the Head Start Leadership Team to plan and implement monthly Educational and Family Engagement Leadership Meetings;

 Collaborates with the Director of Early Learning Services [implementing a full-day, full-year model) for centers that offer childcare services to ensure strong collaboration, planning and support;

 Assists program staff in monitoring and incorporating each content area of the Head Start program into pertinent daily activities with the children and families;

 Partners with the Director of Center-Based Services to develop and implement monthly and quarterly monitoring and supports;

 Supports the entry of strong, accurate data in ChildPlus and Teaching Strategies Gold;

 Supports the use of surveys and process for continuous improvement by the agency and program including surveys such as Great Place to Work, the 0-5 Essential Survey;

 Collaborates with Head Start Senior Leadership team to develop and implement policies and procedures.

 Collaborates with the Director of Center-Based Services, the Director of School-Based Services and the Director of 365 Services to develop and implement Head Start Education Service Plans;

 Partners with the Director of Center-Based Services, and the Professional Development Director to plan and implement professional development activities and ensure that staff receive appropriate training within the proper timeframes and as needed at assigned centers;

 Partners with the Professional Development Director and coaches to coordinate input from campuses and direct observation into actionable improvements and development in the classroom;

 Provides regular performance feedback on coaches in partnership with the Professional Development Director;

 Partners with Human Resources to support the implementation of onboarding and job specific orientation for staff assigned to the campuses;

 Partners with Human Resources and the Head Start Leadership Team for ensuring regular performance feedback is offered, for developing performance improvement plans and for conducting periodic talent reviews;

 Must be able to frequently walk, stand and sit for extended time periods.

 Repetitive use of hands; reaching and turning;

 Ability to lift up to 30 pounds; light lifting of supplies and materials;

 Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 Must be able to twist, turn, kneel, bend and stoop.

 Maintains clear and open communication with staff by assisting with regular regional and center meetings and assisting with periodic staff observations and evaluations at assigned centers;

 Conducts direct observations and ongoing monitoring of the campuses including classroom walkthroughs, campus health and safety audits, and active supervision;

 Assists with maintaining oversight of center operations relative to the following: administration, record keeping, maintenance, security, requesting and accounting for supplies and equipment, utilization of volunteers, recording in-kind contributions and timely submission of all information required for reporting at assigned centers;

 Assists and provides timely guidance and instruction to all assigned staff by serving as a liaison from Head Start Central Office to assigned enter locations;

 Supports the investigation and incident reporting process in partnership with Quality Assurance, the Campus Director, and the Head Start Director;

 Maintains confidentiality and assures that any information affecting employment is communicated in a timely manner.

 Reports any unsafe conditions too required personnel as required;

 Assists with monitoring enrollment and attendance of children in assigned Head Start centers to meet the capacity;

 Actively participates in interdisciplinary work including staffing, planning and implementing agency events, self-assessment, and federal monitoring;

 Participates fully in required trainings and meetings;

 Maintains required certifications and professional development hours, and

 Supports other duties as assigned.

After completing one (1) year of service, the company contributes 4% of the employee’s earnings to the 403(b) retirement plan. If the employee also elects to make a contribution to the plan, Child Care Associates will match half (50%) of the employee’s contribution up to 4% of base salary.
