Child & Family Services of Erie County is Hiring a Program Coordinator (Erie County Family Court Custody/Visitation Mediation Program) Near Buffalo, NY

The newly created ECFC C/V Mediation Program Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program. This position will maintain a small caseload and limited virtual mediation hosting responsibilities. Duties will also include coordination of office coverage and case scheduling, assigning, and supporting roster members (mediators), implementing and maintaining program protocols, reporting, staff training and supervision Program Associates and any interns assigned to the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Carryout program goals, proven through regular data reporting as well as client, mediator, partner, and funder feedback including, but not limited ensuring agreement rates stay within industry norms
  • Regularly meet with court personnel, and other stakeholders to discuss strengths and challenges, and to receive feedback regarding the program;
  • Prioritize client service, through timely and professional correspondence;
  • Supervise program staff and support them in the daily provision of service;
  • Work alongside CR J leadership to ensure program is impacting community as intended;
  • Implement and refine program policy and procedures;
  • Assist CR J coworkers in mediator engagement;
  • Re-establish CR J presence in Erie County Family Court*;
  • Utilize electronic case management system to input, update and close case files; and prepare regular reports;
  • Participate in the quality assurance efforts in accordance with State, agency, and CR J requirements;
  • Work collaboratively with a focus on teamwork across all CR J initiatives;
  • Develop and deliver in-service training for staff and other program stakeholders, based on areas of identified interest or need, or as requested by Director or other CR J leadership;
  • Attend and participate in regular project, CR J and agency meetings;
  • Attend professional development trainings as required;
  • Incorporate the agency mission, values and philosophy in decisions, behaviors and actions; and
  • Model and practice sensitivity, fair treatment and acceptance of diversity in all interpersonal interactions and in accordance with trauma informed practices;
  • This position will be regularly scheduled to work at both the main CR J office location as well as at Erie County Family Court, spending at least one to two days per week at each location.

  • Has 3-5 years experience working with Erie County Family Court ADR initiatives as well as similar experience in basic mediation practices, with custody/visitation mediation preferred;

  • Experience in working with roster mediators and/or other neutrals;
  • Enjoys direct client work AND program administration;
  • Is willing to explore, identify, and work collaboratively with court administration, attorneys, and community members; and
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office programs, demonstrates a commitment to data integrity, and a willingness to learn and maximize technology to support project goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-3 years experience working with Erie County Family Court or within child welfare;
  • 2-3 years experience working with volunteers with proven success in relationship building;
  • Must be sensitive to impact of divorce and/or custody/visitation on individuals and families throughout our communities;
  • Experience in peaceful conflict resolution strategies and/or working with people in high conflict situations preferred;
  • Aptitude for business operations and efficiencies;
  • Excellent organizational, listening, oral and written communication skills;
  • Superior interpersonal, engagement and collaboration skills;
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to enter data into case management database, utilize Excel for reporting, and Zoom/Microsoft Teams for virtual meetings, and the ability to produce PowerPoint presentations, etc.;
  • Must be flexible, able to work both independently and on a team environment and be willing to adapt responsibilities according to program needs and demands;
  • Ability to manage time and complete activities and projects proficiently;
  • Willing and able to frequently travel to and work in a variety of settings, including C FS offices, courts, community offices and remotely;
  • Willing to travel occasionally throughout and outside of WNY for local, regional, statewide meetings and other professional development opportunities.
