Child Family Services is Hiring a Kitchen Staff Near New Bedford, MA

The ACCS/YCCS Kitchen Staff is responsible for assisting the Kitchen Lead with daily operations of the kitchen. The Kitchen Staff ensures that all menu items, food preparations and kitchen service standards demonstrate a commitment to quality and operational excellence.

Available Schedules:

Sunday & Monday / 6:30am - 6:30pm

Tuesday - Saturday / 2:00pm-6:30p

Qualifications:

  • A completed High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required (Culinary degree preferred)
  • Must have 2 years of experience in a similar food service role
  • Must have Food Safety and Sanitation (ServSafe) certifications or ability to acquire certification within 3 months of hire
  • Must have working knowledge of local, state, and federal health and sanitation laws, including nutritional and allergen needs
  • Must have knowledge of proper use and maintenance of major kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration, dishwashers, etc.

Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the agency’s needs.

  • Takes an active role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and sanitized kitchen
  • Prepare and serve food for multiple shifts
  • Follows guidelines for all recipes and portions servings
  • Keeps kitchen, dish, and storage areas clean and organized
  • Demonstrates proper food storage and handling techniques
  • Receives product by verifying invoice and freshness of merchandise
  • Observe clients and staff to anticipate needs, respond to additional requests and receive inquiries for new menu ideas
  • Completes laundry duties for the units, including client’s laundry and bedding
  • Practice good housekeeping and appropriate measures to prevent pollution or other negative impacts on the environment
  • Demonstrate a respectful and understanding attitude towards clients and staff
  • Fills in and performs tasks as needed, to ensure efficient kitchen and unit operations
  • Participate in all required staff meetings and trainings
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation certifications

Working Conditions & Physical Demands of Kitchen Environment

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

All 24-hour/Acute Care program staff are considered essential. Essential staff are defined as personnel who are expected to report to work as scheduled, regardless of holidays and/or during any emergency situation and/or agency closing (i.e., inclement weather) to ensure the ongoing operations of the program.
