Key Responsibilities and Expectations
Provides a positive and nurturing environment for the children
Provides consistent and constant supervision of children
Complies with all rules and regulations pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children
Uses positive statements, is a positive role model for children
Develops lesson plans in accordance with the Children's Lighthouse curriculum.
Ensures an organized and structured daily schedule
Manages daily functions for the classroom, including but not limited to curriculum implementation, transitions, room organization, meals, naptime, and diaper changes
Enriches student learning experience with creative ideas and activities
Ensures that all class bulletin boards are current and informative
Drafts daily student reports and manages other parent communication with oversight of the Director
Interacts with parents in a pleasant and professional manner
Accepts responsibility for maintenance and housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas, and playgrounds
Attends all required staff meetings, trainings, and/or school functions as determined by the Director
Maintains a professional personal appearance, attitude, and work behavior at all times
Train and mentor other teachers
Performs other duties as assigned
Required to stand up to 90% of the day
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs in the course of caring for children and managing emergency situations
Skills, Education and Experience
Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state of North Carolina for the role
Classroom teaching experience in an NC 5 star Early Childhood facility, a plus
Enjoys children and expresses genuine interest in them
Able to interact with students of all ages and development levels
Excellent organizational and communication skillsStrong effective, interpersonal skills.
CPR and First Aid Certification
SIDS certification
Highly professional and dependable
Excellent problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
Open to change - flexible and able to adapt. Able to multi task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast paced environment
Proficient computer skills
Must pass a criminal background check and have a qualifying letter from NC DCDEE.
