Children's Academy of Newnan (dba The Caterpillar House) is Hiring an After School Teacher Near Newnan, GA

Under the supervision of the Director, in cooperation with other staff, and consistent with the center's mission, the Afterschool Teacher is responsible for implementing the education and social development of school age children. The job description of a child care teacher involves patience, a compassionate and friendly demeanor, the ability to think creatively, and a background in childhood education. A child care teacher designs early childhood education curricula, oversees the behavior and development of children in the daycare center, and prepares children for success with handling social situations with peers. The Afterschool teacher is a very important role at an early learning center. Job Title: Afterschool Teacher Prek-5th grade students

Department: Child Care/Early Learning

Supervisor: Director & Assistant Director

Salary: Based on experience and education ($11-$13 per hour with room to expand)

Location: The Caterpillar House 299 Bullsboro Drive Newnan, GA 30263

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Be able to provide sound, caring and positive leadership for children.

2. Able to maintain a safe and fun environment for children

3. Provide, to everyone, extraordinary customer service to parent(s).

4. Be able to recognize and implement safety standards in all program activities.

5. Be able to participate effectively with other staff in implementing creative and fun activities for students.

6. Have a good understanding of the mission and values of the Center and be able to demonstrate and teach based on those values.

7. Pass a criminal background check and drug test.

8. Communicate positively with parents and staff as required.

9. Must have current CPR and First Aid certifications or achieve in first 90 days.

10. Must be at least 18 years of age.

11. Perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

12. Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/ dangerous situations.

13. May provide children with assistance in dealing with issues such as personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering, lifting writing, feeding, and getting in or out of transportation.

14. May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as a part of the child care environment

15.1years minimum experience in field of early education/youth programs. Must hold a CDA, TCC or Parapro license.

16. Previous work experience or student teaching position in daycare or school is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work actively outdoors and/or indoors while supervising children and staff. Ability to climb, walk, run, stoop, squat or kneel. Ability to lift and carry equipment to appropriate destinations or affect the carrying of such equipment. Ability to use senses which enable safe supervision including seeing and/or hearing.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
