Key Responsibilities:

• Build a classroom culture in which scholars develop a love for music.
• Inspire a love for music through rigorous lessons and centering scholar learning on creating connecting, performing, and responding to artistic works within Music.
• Build students’ music knowledge and skills, including how to understand musical instruments and history.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in yoga and teaching techniques.
• Differentiate for individual scholars based on their unique learning needs so all scholars are appropriately engaged and supported.
• Communicate and reinforce high expectations and standards for behavior and academic performance, aligned with the CACPCS school culture and core values.
• Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that maximize instructional time.
• Communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with parents/guardians, remaining sensitive to different families’ cultures, values and needs.
• Work collaboratively with parents/guardians, families, and other members of the community.
• Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve practice as well as to support the achievement of the overall goals and mission of the school.
• Reflect critically upon teaching experience; identify areas for further professional development as part of a professional development plan.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in music education
• Have educational and/or professional training in developing and implementing a music education program for children required
• Belief in accountability and that all children can achieve at high levels
• Belief in and alignment with Children’s Aid College Prep’s mission, core values and approach
• A team player who is dedicated and flexible to teach in an urban, public school or charter school setting preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
