Additionally, the lifespan compensation range of this position is: $23/hour- $24.04/hour.

The Information & Resource (I&R) Family Support Specialist conducts initial client intakes utilizing funder and agency assessment tools and provides information and resources to families and community service providers who call, email, or walk into the Family Resource Center (FRC). As a human services and customer service provider, the position requires strong intake and communication skills to meet the various needs of the community and knowledge of local community resources and programs. The I&R Family Support Specialist will provide case management and family advocacy for a caseload of up to 20 clients annually. The I&R Family Support Specialist also assists in coordinating, promoting, and implementing FRC Programs. The I&R role consists of providing day-to-day operational support to the FRC Coordinator and the overall functioning of the FRC, including general facility oversight and the timely coordination of information and messages to FRC staff and community partners. The I&R Family Support Specialist is located at the Family Resource Center and meets with families in community locations, as needed. ?

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide coordinated information, referral, and family advocacy services to assist families in crisis situations, such as those with immediate needs for shelter, basic needs, healthcare, etc.
  • As the FRC's first point of contact with the community, the I&R Family Support Specialist conducts an initial intake and coordinates resource and referral information in a prompt and courteous manner for individuals and families seeking support.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of local resources and establishes collaborative relationships with other agencies to maximize the effective delivery of services. Networks with other providers to expand resource knowledge to better serve the community. Maintains the FRC's welcoming appearance, including public areas where information and resources are available for the community.
  • Provide strengths-based support and advocacy to assist families in identifying resources and services to address identified needs. Collaborates with FRC staff and Case Management Team to provide linkage and referrals to clients.
  • Provides case management and family advocacy support to a caseload of up to 20 clients per year
  • Attends and presents cases to the Case Management Team
  • Administer evaluation tools as required by this agency and the funder
  • Identifies appropriate community resources, ensuring they are culturally and linguistically appropriate
  • Coordinates service delivery with other service providers
  • Advocate for clients as needed, i.e., with CalWORKs, MediCal, schools, courts, and other
    systems that clients interact with
  • Administer evaluation tools, data entry, and data collection, and maintain referral logs, charts, and other records as required by the agency or funder.
  • Maintains files, logs, charts, and other records in audit condition as required by agency or funding source
  • Performs various office coordination duties that support FRC initiatives and program goals, including facilitating positive collaborative working relationships with staff, community partners, and volunteers. This may include the planning and executing FRC events or programs requiring leadership skills. Demonstrates good judgment and effective communication in teamwork and problem solving of day-to-day issues.
  • Supports FRC Coordinator in the training and supervising high school and college interns.
  • Responsible for coordinating the scheduling and registration of classes and workshops, developing the FRC calendar, brochures, flyers, and other materials that promote FRC services. Assists in coordinating outreach efforts, which promote community participation in the FRC programs. including distribution of materials to community providers and volunteers.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume office environment and organized workload to comply with deadlines and priorities. Provides administrative support to the FRC Coordinator, including typing, composing, and editing FRC documentation.
  • Attends community meetings and/or agency/collaboration meetings/trainings assigned
  • Supports agency initiatives related to Trauma Informed, Resilience-Oriented Care (TIROC) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

General

  • Maintains confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients
  • Maintains positive communications with all agency staff, clients and visitors
  • Supports existing agency policies, principles, and mission
  • Exercises good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities
  • Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a human services or administrative field and 1 -2 years of direct service with families, customer service, and administrative support in a community, business, or human services organization
    or a high school diploma/GED; and 3 -5 years of direct case management experience with families, customer service, and administrative support in a community, business, or human services organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse socioeconomic and multicultural/ethnic population with sensitivity and respect
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills, as well as excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Valid California "Class C" Driver License required
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish, with proficiency in English required
