Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Cardiology is Hiring a Coding Specialist Near Atlanta, GA

Children’s Cardiology, a subsidiary of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, is comprised of more than 60 pediatric cardiologists providing comprehensive services for patients from before birth to age 21 who have acquired or congenital heart disease. The Coding Specialist abstracts and codes clinical information using CPT, HCPCS, & ICD-10 codes nomenclature and classification guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Coding certification required (CPC, CPC-P, CCS or CCS-P).
  • Minimum of two years medical coding experience with demonstrated knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes.
  • Proficient in E/M coding for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • EMR or Epic experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Must possess a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills and follow-through discipline required.
  • Effective oral and written communication required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately code E/M services for both inpatient and outpatient settings through review of available encounter reports, medical records and communication with physicians and staff.
  • Abstract and assign appropriate diagnoses to CPT codes.
  • Communicate with management on documentation issues and clarification for accurate coding & billing.
  • Access and review hospital patient systems information necessary for the complete submission of charge sheets.
  • Use current coding resources to research appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures; consult with physicians to ensure accuracy of codes and charges.
  • Assist in monitoring of reports and investigates and resolve new, difficult or problem coding & billing procedures.
  • Assist in conducting billing and documentation audits; prepare statistical information for presentation.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
