The Children's Home Society of WV is hiring a part-time Family Aide to support our Foster Care Program at our Huntington location.

Position Goal: To provide aide level services, such as supervised visitation and transportation, to children and families served in our foster care program.

What you will be doing:

• Supervise visitations between the child and his/her biological family, as needed.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with the child's biological family through honest interactions and active listening. Provide encouragement and support through positive role modeling.
• Help biological parents become involved in activities with their children while modeling positive and appropriate parent/child interactions.
• Educate biological parents about the stages and processes of child development. Teach appropriate and consistent child management techniques.
• Provide meaningful observations, both oral and written, of children and their families and provide appropriate, accurate, and timely recommendations.
• Complete thorough and accurate documentation. Meet required deadlines.
• Provide transportation to family visits, appointments, etc., as needed.
• Assist with miscellaneous office duties, such as filing paperwork.
• Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and trainings as requested and offered.
• Commit to permanency for every child.

What you will need:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated ability to work with children, youth and families.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage.
• Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including some evenings and weekends.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
