Job OverviewThe Clinical Nurse Database Coordinator is a nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for oversight of the department-specific database(s) which provides clinicians and administrators with valid and reliable outcome measures to help monitor clinical improvement and benchmark with other comparable departments nationally. The Database Coordinator develops and maintains the organizational structure necessary to contribute data to the comparative database, utilize data for quality improvement purposes, and share unit and comparative results with their department and other key stakeholders. Responsible for direct abstraction of data from Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), recording and reporting of patient data, and data entry into forms, electronic Case Report Forms (CRFs), and Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems, as well as responding to data queries in a timely fashion and auditing/cleaning database entries.

Job Status: Full-time 80 hours
Shift: M-F, hybrid work upon completin of onboarding and training. No weekends or holidays. Data harvest blackout dates 2x per year.
Qualifications
  • EDUCATION – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • EXPERIENCE – Three years of nursing experience relevant to assignment.
    • Preferred - Experience or f ocus on Acquired or Congenital Heart Disease Surgical Data Abstraction
  • EQUIVALENCY - An Associate’s degree in Nursing plus two additional years of experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) – BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.
  • LICENSURE – Registered Nurse Licensure (RN).

ResponsibilitiesPOPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
  • No Direct Patient Care
Essential Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
  • Utilizes nursing skills, competencies and knowledge to evaluate and interpret patient information and clinical data.
  • Acts as the site representative to the department-specific data, serving as the principle clinical and data liaison for all aspects of the department-specific data needs.
  • Coordinates all aspects of data abstraction and management to support the department-specific data, including coordinating team completion of training and certification as applicable. Exports data to the required registries by submission due dates.
  • Creates and maintains systems to ensure accurate and precise data collection with minimal variation between data collectors. Ensures adherence to definitions and program requirements.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for development and enhancements of department-specific data views. Working with Clinical Informatics Teams, responsible for ensuring accurate, complete and high-quality data of department-specific data.
  • Partners with ARC to generate monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports, communicates findings and provide data for Nation-wide surveys (i.e. US World and News Annual Hospital Survey) as requested.
  • Coordinates site completion of Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) requirements, reviews IRR reports and follows up regarding any discrepancies with the data collection team.
  • Develops and runs reports and dashboards using standard enterprise self-service platforms
  • Monitors the accuracy and completeness of all data collection and data entry activities, including performing periodic team audits and validation of data prior to final submission.
  • Participates in quality improvement and research projects by participating in committees and meetings, developing presentations, reports, and providing data specific to project needs, as requested.
  • Synthesizes clinical expertise, quality control and scientific principles of outcomes measurement and research to critically evaluate data used to generate program reports.
  • Monitors and analyzes data, presenting relevant data to healthcare team members regarding quality improvements, noticeable changes in trends, and data associated with unit and organizational goals when applicable.

Salary Information
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $73,171.39 to $109,757.08
Hourly Salary Range: $35.18 to $52.77
