A Brief Overview

At the Brain-Gene-Development Lab, led by Aaron Alexander-Bloch, we are a group of computational scientists who integrate multimodal neuroimaging with genomics and behavior in brain development. Our goal is to translate the highly polygenic risk for neurodevelopmental disorders into pathophysiologic mechanisms, to inform the development of new treatments for individuals with mental illness. We are seeking a self-motivated, hard-working postdoctoral scientist ready to contribute to the development of the next generation of brain growth charts for research and clinical datasets. The candidate will work on independent scientific projects and will contribute to our informatics team, which supports the needs of the lab in the neuroimaging informatics space.

What you will do

*Pursue independent scientific work in image segmentation, pipeline development or growth chart models, or imaging-genetics.

*Develop scripts and procedures to curate and process large brain MRI datasets.

*Collaborate on pipeline development with other labs at Penn and CHOP, nationally, and internationally.

*Develop scripts for neuroimaging analysis (FreeSurfer, AFNI, ANTS, FSL, etc) in the HPC environment at CHOP/Penn.

*Collaborate with PI to disseminate results in scientific papers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.

  • Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).

  • Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.

  • Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.

  • Supervise junior lab members.

  • Assist with other research projects as needed.

  • Required:Doctorate
