Children's National Hospital is Hiring a Core Business Administrator Near Washington, DC
The Core Business Administrator oversees the financial and administrative functions of centralized shared scientific core facilities, catering to Children's National investigators and affiliated research groups. Collaborating closely with the Scientific Core Directors the role entails managing business plans, operating budgets, fee schedules, equipment management plans, and Standard Operating Procedures for core facility administration ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies and procedures. Additionally, responsibilities include facilitating the Scientific Advisory Board, updating core facility webpages and preparing annual reports. The position is pivotal in delivering exceptional service to the research community, prioritizing timeliness, cost-effectives, and efficiency. Minimum EducationBachelor's Degree (Required) Minimum Work Experience4 years academic healthcare management/ healthcare finance administration with increasing responsibilities (Required) 2 years managing operating budgets (Required) Required Skills/KnowledgeResearch and/or research administration experience in an academic biomedical research organization. Functional AccountabilitiesProgram Administration
Oversees administrative and financial operations of the scientific research cores. Maintains for each core: detailed business plan, annual operating budget, annual pricing review, and capital budgets.
Maintains core management software system. Ensures that all cores utilize software to track and bill activities. Facilitates the set-up of new cores as needed.
Ensures all cores meet regularly with scientific advisory boards to evaluate their scientific impact.
Assists in the operations management of equipment.
Assists with accurate estimation of staffing, operating expenses and service volumes.
Ensures ongoing updates of the core facility web pages.
Overseeing administrative operations for affiliated research groups, with a focus on facilitating external user agreements and setting up purchase orders.
Independently, stays abreast of all applicable Uniform Guidance Requirements and Federal regulations.

Budget and Financial Analysis
Produces annual report(s) for the core facilities.
Provides monthly financial reporting to stakeholders.
Coordinates monthly billing and collection activity.
Prepares annual review of expenses, income and adjustments of budgets and rates.
Ensures that all expenses and revenues are reviewed and deemed appropriate.
Monitors core facility surplus and deficits to assist with developing a strategy for elimination of surplus or deficits.
Takes on special projects to assist with the financial management of core facilities.
