Children's National Medical Center is Hiring a Lead Ultrasound Technologist- Sign On Bonus Available Near Washington, DC

Up to $22,500 Sign on Bonus for those that qualify

The Lead Ultrasound Technologist will perform high quality Diagnostic Ultrasound exams while providing excellent patient care. Will assist the Radiology Operations Manager in managing the daily operations and workflow of the Ultrasound modalities.

Minimum Education Associate's Degree Graduate of approved program in Ultrasound Technology (Required) Minimum Work Experience 3 years Clinical ultrasound experience in a hospital environment (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Demonstrates working knowledge of all diagnostic ultrasound equipment and related components. Possesses excellent knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and ultrasound pathology and documents such. Required Licenses and Certifications A.R.D.M.S. (Required) Functional AccountabilitiesUltrasound Scanning
  • Produce high quality ultrasound scans via appropriate choice of transducer, scale, focal zones, and gain. Scale.
  • Work independently
  • Assist radiologists with interventional procedures as directed.
  • Perform all exams in a timely and efficient manner .
  • Work in conjunction with modality section head to establish and implement consistent scanning and imaging protocols.
Quality Control
  • Identify each image with proper and permanent patient data.
  • Follow correct procedures regarding warm-up, use and shut down of equipment.
  • Check paperwork, film jackets and patient charges for accuracy prior to submission and completes RIS assignments immediately following exam.
  • Maintain cleanliness of exams rooms and equipment.
  • Assist modality section head to maintain excellent imaging and scanning quality within the modality.
  • Teach technologists on any new protocol and procedures as needed; monitor imaging and scanning quality of technologists (in partnership with the modality section head) and reports outcomes to manager.
Patient Care
  • Greet patients, introduce self to patient and treat all patients/families in a kind, courteous and professional manner; explain exam to patients/parents; communicate with patient throughout the exam and releases patient/parent with appropriate follow-up info;
  • Ensure room is prepared & stocked prior to start of exam.
  • Make every attempt to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodate stat or add-on requests; assist to prioritize daily patient flow and ensure timely throughput of patients.
  • Be cooperative and willing to assist when asked to travel to a CH-affiliated site.
  • Provide direct care to patents.
  • Share on call responsibilities, equally , with all ultrasound technologists.
Clinical Safety
  • Adhere to all OSHA regulations;
  • Keep acoustic power within acceptable limits.
  • Practice personal radiation safety within the department.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and software application issues in conjunction with manager and IT staff; immediately report equipment malfunctions to engineer & complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Train and orientate new technologists within the modality .
  • Assist Radiology Operations Manager to ensure adequate staffing plans.
Professional Development
  • Maintain A.R.D.M.S. certification.
  • Biennially update CPR certification.
  • Complete mandatory annual reviews.
  • Attend seminars and in-services.
  • Provide leadership to the modality with regard to patient care and customer service.
