Children's of Alabama is Hiring a Registered Dietitian I Near Birmingham, AL

Job Summary The clinical nutritionist will be responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy appropriate for age and disease of pediatric patients. Has a faculty appointment at the University of Alabama, Birmingham and the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Responsible for initiating and writing orders within the defined scope of practice to implement appropriate nutrition care in a timely manner. Responsible for the case management of certain patient populations including, but not limited to, ketogenic diet therapy and home TPN. Establishes protocols for medical nutrition Therapy (MNT) for the organization. Initiates nutrition interventions as defined. Accepts telephone physician orders, within their scope of practice. Education Master#s degree in food and nutrition from a program accredited by the American Dietetic Association with 12 months of clinical nutrition work experience required, pediatric experience preferred, and certification in area of specialization preferred; OR Bachelor#s degree in nutrition from a program accredited by the American Dietetic Association and certification in area of specialization (for example, but not limited to, CDE, CNSD, CSP, CSR) with 2 years of clinical nutrition work experience required , pediatric experience preferred. Completion of a pediatric nutrition traineeship preferred, but not required. Experience Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries Licensed by the State Board of Examiners for Dietetics/Nutrition Practice in the State of Alabama required. Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetics Registration required.
