An exciting position is currently available for a Layout & Development Engineer. This position will work with Applications Engineers to translate concepts to preliminary layout drawings/sales drawings, prepare equipment lists, meet with customers, and take detailed measurements of the existing facilities and equipment, to produce 2-D or 3-D drawing packages.
Responsibilities:

• Analyze and assist in developing material handling systems and equipment within the food processing and industrial automation space.
• Create 2-D or 3-D drawings of concepts utilizing appropriate software tools.
• Take concepts from Applications Engineers and the project team, to develop a concept layout with system scope to define the solution.
• Participate in proposal development, concept development, and machine component sizing.
• Read and interpret data sheets and component specifications. Must be able to evaluate options and choose parts that fit the larger system.
• Analyze facility layouts and manipulate layout to show system concepts in a facility environment.
• Contribute to the preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
• Provide status and progress reports to project team, and management as required.
• Work closely with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Technical Service to understand system requirements and develop workable design concepts and cost estimates.
• Key focus on design for manufacturability and operator safety
• Assist Sales personnel in describing concept systems for use in preparing proposals.
• Travel up to 10% as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A.S. Engineering, or related fields, with a minimum 1-2 years Engineering experience.
• Minimum 1-2 years AutoCAD or related 2-D CAD software experience, SolidWorks experience a plus.
• Proven ability to gather ideas and information and apply engineering theory to make a realizable system.
• Must be able to effectively evaluate options and provide a solution to complete a larger system.
• Previous experience utilizing engineering concepts for creating assemblies, preferred.
• Self-starter with the ability to develop and deliver project proposals to peers and management.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced data-driven environment.
• Flexibility to effectively handle changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
• Able to work independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
• Displays superior written and oral communication skills.
• Must possess a valid drivers license.

Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed in an office environment, regularly exposed to manufacturing processes and mechanical moving parts.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, and move from one area to another.
• Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.

Schedule and Hours: 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with weekend work as required.
