Job SummaryThe Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical assessments, treatments, and care for the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent patient population served. Is responsible for monitoring drug therapy, providing drug information, consulting with medical, nursing, and allied healthcare professionals to deliver high quality, cost effective pharmaceutical services. Will coordinate workflow of the department and directs activities of pharmacy technicians.
Pay RangeMinimum $69.53 Midpoint $92.13 Maximum $114.73
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.Experience
  • Required: Minimum one (1) year of clinical pharmacy experience in an acute care setting.
  • Preferred: Experience in a pediatric acute care setting.
Education
  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree or Pharm.D. from an accredited college or university.
Training
  • Required: None required.
  • Preferred: Completion of an ASHP-accredited hospital/ clinical/pediatric residency program (PGY1 and/or PGY2).
Specialized Skills
  • Required: Proficient in interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word); knowledge of State and Federal laws; ability to supervise and instruct others in pharmaceutical work; analytical skills to determine the appropriateness of drug therapy and the correctness of the dosage, and ability to evaluate drug interactions, ADEs, and allergic reactions; organizational skills necessary to coordinate departmental activities.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of the current trends in pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, and toxicology as they relate to drug therapy in the neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patient population.
Licensure
  • Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within one (1) year of hire or transfer; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required within 90 days of hire or transfer; Pharmacist – CA Board of Pharmacy.
Work Environments - Functional DemandMedium - High energy level Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Push/pull /- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) .
