Job SummaryThe Music Therapist provides music therapy services in fulfillment of therapeutic objectives, including but not limited to, anxiety reduction, pain management, quality of life, and family/patient support. Will assist the Child Life Department to meet the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and their families.
Pay RangeMinimum $26.21 Midpoint $34.72 Maximum $43.24
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.Experience
- Required: Previous and/or current experience working with infants, children, and/or adolescents.
- Preferred: Two(2) years of professional experience as a Music Therapist in the pediatric setting.
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association approved University.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association approved University.
- Required: CPR Certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. Board Certified Music Therapist or eligibility. Application for certification to be completed within one year of hire and each year thereafter until certification is obtained.
- Preferred: Internship, Fieldwork or Volunteer experience in the Pediatric setting.
- Required: Ability to positively interact with children and families. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner. Ability to work in collaboration and in positive manner with others. Ability to perform duties independently. Perform work according to CHOC policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards. Care with sensitivity and respect. Advance care through the development of new ideas and technology. Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission. Understand and exceed customer expectations. Ability to accurately assess developmental needs of patients, establish a plan of care, evaluate effectiveness of interventions. Understanding of counseling principles and practices. Effective written and verbal skills.
- Preferred: Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
- Required: Music Therapist Certification; Basic Life Support (BLS).
