General description:

The vision of Lakeside Christian Church is to lead people into life-transforming relationships with Jesus. A foundational value in Lakeside is to have sincere relationships with one another and God.

The Youth & Worship Directors role will be a vital step toward accomplishing the vision with intentionality. Youth Director will guide students into deepening relationships with God through active discipleship. The Worship Director will lead the church family into vibrant worship via music for regular Sunday worship and other meetings.

Overall Essential Competencies and Skills:

· Exceptional public speaking skills and the ability to lead a group

· Communication/organizational/administrative Skills. Strong oral, written, and organizational/administrative skills are needed. Lakeside Christian Church is looking for someone who can organize themselves, put together schedules, and establish lines of communications with families and individuals.

· Technological Skills. This person must possess strong skills and have the ability to learn and work with multiple platforms while considering new digital solutions for ongoing improvement. The church is looking for someone who can use Pro-Presenter, Planning Center, and PowerPoint with relative ease. In the role of worship director, this person will collaborate, coordinate and communicate with different teams to create a whole worship experience.

· A passion for discipleship. This person will lead students to come to know Jesus and grow in personal relationship with Jesus. Sharing Jesus with students and helping them grow in relationship with Jesus is one of the joys of ministry at Lakeside.

· Self-starter. The church is looking for a person with good ideas and the ability to put those ideas into action as part of the Lakeside ministry team. The church is looking for someone who gets out of bed in the morning and is excited about ministry.

· Relationship Oriented. This person must be at ease recruiting, working with, and socializing with all types of people.

· Team player. The person the church is looking for must be comfortable with sharing ideas and feed back as part of a collaborative team (Pastor, staff, volunteers). The person is ready to learn and grow in the role as well as compliment the gifts, abilities, and skills of the rest of the ministry team.

· Trust & Confidentiality. This person must exercise discretion and confidentiality regarding the personal information of Lakeside staff and members.

· Lakeside Christian Church needs someone proficient in playing guitar and/or piano/keys along with vocal ability. The person the church is looking for is able to read and/or understand music theory and/or chords. The person will collaborate with other musicians and vocalists to lead the church family into worship.

Responsibility and Expectations of the Lakeside Youth Director:

- Year-Round Responsibilities

o Keeping open availability to students and families in the church (open line of communication, attending sports games/talent shows/graduations/birthday parties/plays/etc.)

o Coordinating regular 1:1 check-in meetings with students, parents, and volunteers.

o Facilitating intentional discipleship opportunities with students via texts/phone calls, 1:1s, group outings for food and/or movie, movie or board game nights, driving practice, etc. things that are outside of the ministry calendar.

o Planning and strategizing the yearly schedule (events, fundraisers, team meetings, etc.)

o Studying/mapping curriculum for Wednesday night teaching.

o Building/maintaining the leader meeting schedules (monthly life-group, quarterly meetings, annual planning/teambuilding day).

o Developing the relationship between the church & the students – connecting people for babysitting needs, yardwork needs, serving opportunities, etc.

- Weekly Wednesday Night Responsibilities

o Teaching powerful, relevant, and engaging messages that make the Gospel real and impactful to the students’ lives.

o Communicating with the Youth Leadership Team about activities and plans for coming Wednesdays and assigning responsibilities.

o Prepping PowerPoint for music/announcement/message slides

o Acting as the all-encompassing POC for the night, ready to answer any questions, respond to emergencies, and lead the team/students well in any circumstance.

o Rearranging furniture/setting up spaces for games and managing any necessary tear down/cleaning up from the activities.

o Facilitating a time of worship which would include coordinating music, working with musical volunteers in/out of the youth group, selecting songs/introducing new songs, etc.

- Event Responsibilities

o Creating thoughtful and intentional spiritual content for the variable time lengths of different events, retreats, and camps.

o Developing and posting promotional graphics.

o Rearranging furniture and setting up lights/sound equipment around the building as necessary.

o Planning and shopping for the necessary supplies/food.

o Coordinating and recruiting volunteer support from the youth and church.

Responsibility and Expectations of the Lakeside Worship Director:

- Year-Round Responsibilities

o Providing overarching vision and direction to the sound, style, feel, and atmosphere of worship at Lakeside Christian Church

o Planning and executing worship gatherings throughout the year outside of the weekly Sunday services.

o Recruiting, training and scheduling volunteers for the worship and tech teams.

o Hosting team building events and jam sessions to help connect volunteers with each other on deeper levels.

o Providing worship support (or volunteers) for Lakeside ministry events.

o Cleaning, rearranging, and organizing the stage each week for the coming worship team (resetting from rental events)

o Collaborate with Worship Directors from different churches to plan and execute a joint Good Friday worship service every year.

- Weekly Service Responsibilities

o Orchestrate a flow of service and selection of songs that emphasizes the tone/call-to-action of the sermon.

o Lead the congregation in vibrant, authentic, joyful, engaging worship that connects the congregation to Jesus and invites to sing with the church family.

o Email team reminders and confirm volunteers for the coming service.

o Coordinate and host mid-week/morning of practices for the worship team.

o Arrive to the sanctuary and turn on equipment/finalize the platform setup before others arrive.

o Lead all Sunday Service volunteers in the morning team meeting before church.

Experience/Education:

Education:

· A Bachelor’s Degree in ministry related field is preferred.

Experience:

· 2-5 years experience in ministry related field is preferred.

Ordination:

· Ordination with a Christian organization that is in agreement with the Lakeside Statement of Faith, if not ordained seeking eventual ordination.

Compensation:

Compensation will take into consideration the competencies, skills, education and experience of the candidate when choosing salary. Medical/Dental benefits are included for full-time staff. A retirement program which matches up to 5% of employee contribution. Paternity/Maternity leave is available.
