Christian County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Campus Security Sergeant. Campus Security conducts screening of visitors, property, or deliveries to ensure the safety and security of the Christian County Courts and Government buildings. They may operate necessary security equipment such as x-ray machines, metal detectors, and hand wands at screening checkpoints. Other duties include assisting with the escorting of inmates to courtrooms, provide oversight from a security control room, and patrolling the campus. Specialized assignments of a Campus Security Corporal may include but not be limited to conducting urine analysis (UA) for the court. The Campus Security Sergeant is primarily responsible for providing supervision of activities in the Campus Security division, including assigning staff, reviewing reports, and resolving day-to-day operational problems and questions arising from staff and the public. The Campus Sergeant trains subordinate deputies/officers in various Sheriff’s Office policies, procedures, and techniques, to maintain/improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and professionalism of the Christian County Sheriff’s office; evaluates performance of assigned staff; prepares reports regarding activities and incidents for command staff review. Translates Division goals into shift goals. Evaluates each member of the shift for their role in completing the goals of the shift and the Division.

Education/Experience:

• Must meet one of the following:
• Possess Class A MO POST certification.
• Possess Class B MO POST certification with 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university and two years of full-time law enforcement experience.
• Possess Class B MO POST certification with two years of active-duty military service with an honorable discharge
• High School Diploma or equivalent Required. Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related to the law enforcement profession is preferred.

• Must Obtain and maintain first aid and community CPR certifications.

• Must be a Citizen of the United States and a citizen of the State of Missouri

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Minimum three (3) years relevant experience (must currently or previously held the rank of Corporal or higher)

The Campus Security Sergeant must have the ability to think and act quickly in medical, fire and other emergency situations; learn, understand and interpret laws and regulations as they relate directly to campus security; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and learn, demonstrate and apply various self-defense techniques. Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation and drug screen (and will be subject to random drug testing).
