Holland Home of Grand Rapids has been in business for over 130 years. We have been caring for the older population since 1892. We are a non-profit Christian company as well as the oldest and largest senior care company in Michigan. We are located in Grand Rapids, MI and have several facilities that are continuing to grow. Job:

Resident Assistant - Provide compassionate care to residents in a person-centered care environment including assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, transferring), emotional support, monitoring the residents needs, recording vital signs, and administering medications.

RA WEEKEND OPTION (WEO) AGREEMENT:

  • A Weekend Option employee will work 9 out of 10 weekends in succession throughout the year. “Weekend” is defined as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or any combination of these.
  • The weekend hours can be 2 or 3 (8) hour or (12) hour shifts or any combination of these hours.
  • If you are absent during a scheduled weekend, you will be paid at the non-premium, current base wage for all the hours worked that weekend. PTO is paid at the base rate for your position. PTO will be accrued and paid out per the benefit plan laid out in the Employee Handbook.
  • If you call in over a weekend, you will be required to make it up, either on your following scheduled weekend off or by filling an opening requested by the Scheduler. Your wage for this make-up day will be the current base rate for your position.
  • More than 2 absences on a weekend in a 6 month period will automatically disqualify you for the WEO program. You can be considered for “regular” shift work at the base rate for your position plus experience.
  • Floating is part of the WEO agreement. You can be required to move with your facility or to another facility. Reliable transportation is required to fulfill this aspect of the WEO program.
  • If a holiday occurs on your scheduled weekend, you will be required to work it. Full-time WEO employees will receive holiday pay in the amount of 8 hours at the current base rate plus their regular WEO rate for hours worked. You will not be required to work holidays falling on weekdays unless you have agreed to pick up regular extra weekdays in addition to your WEO days and the holiday falls on that day. Then you receive holiday pay at the base rate plus the base rate for hours worked.
  • WEO RA Rate: $25.00 Base RA Rate: $15.12
  • WEO staff are not eligible for pick up premiums, shift differentials, nor med pass premiums.
  • Extra weekdays that are scheduled or picked up in addition to the WEO hours will be paid at the current base rate and attendance will be measured by the regular policy in the Employee Handbook.
  • Reliable Internet and email access is required for daily communication.
