Christie Lites is Hiring a Corporate Controller Near Orlando, FL

Job Purpose

Produces accurate and timely financial statements and manages the accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee timely, accurate, and efficient accounting close and production of financial reports for the company and subsidiaries on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Approve journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Develop, document, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate direct reports.
  • Manage the annual external financial audit.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance of the General Ledger accounts and records and related systems.

1. Oversee timely, accurate, and efficient accounting close and production of financial reports for the company and subsidiaries on a monthly and annual basis by:

  • Producing the monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Capital Expenditure, and related statements for all entities.
  • Producing consolidation of those entities and consolidated financial statements.
  • Reviewing adjustments posted to period ends.
  • Coordinating with VP Finance for Christie Lites Sales Divisions for inclusion of results in consolidated financial statements.

2. Approve journal entries and reconciliations by:

  • Reviewing and approving all journal entries and adjustments.
  • Reviewing accuracy and ensuring completeness of all account reconciliations.
  • Reviewing the accuracy of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.

3. Develop, document, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls by:

  • Ensuring completeness of and compliance with comprehensive monthly and annual accounting closing checklists.
  • Achieving consistent monthly internal and external reporting deadlines.

4. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations by:

  • Ensuring financial records and reports are in accordance with GAAP and related guidelines and company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Remaining current on technical accounting research and resolution as necessary.

5. Train, supervise, and evaluate direct reports by:

  • Conducting annual reviews and evaluations of the performance of direct reports.
  • Contributing to a culture of mentorship and continuous improvement.
  • Training staff as appropriate.

6. Manage the annual external financial audit by:

  • Planning, coordinating, and delivering required documentation and schedules to the financial audit team promptly.
  • Maintaining a strong working relationship with the external financial auditors.
  • Escalating issues to the CFO as they arise.

7. Perform ongoing maintenance of the General Ledger accounts and records and related systems by:

  • Closing out and rolling month-end periods in SAGE.
  • Overseeing administration of general ledger software and related systems and working with third-party vendors.

Professional attributes for success in this role:

  • CPA designation
  • Holds an accounting designation from an accredited university
  • Minimum 8 years of related accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of all accounting principles and practices
  • Strong understanding of AR and AP functions and month-end closing
  • Ability to manage cross-functional relationships
  • Proficiency in defining, documenting, and implementing accounting processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • Proficiency with accounting software applications (Sage preferred, others accepted)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
