Maintenance Technician performs a diverse set of duties intended to ensure proper, safe and productive operations of facility and company’s assets. He / She is responsible for coordinating all elements required to complete these work assignments in a timely and professional manner with the intent of minimizing equipment downtime at all times.
The responsibilities include the following:
- Compliance with the Quality Management System and Environmental, Health & Safety requirements including being responsible for quality of work, good documentation practices/recordkeeping, good manufacturing practices (GMP) and safety.
- Perform calibrations of the process and test equipment.
- Perform assigned preventive maintenance.
- Lay out circuits and install electrical wiring systems to handle required loads for various parts of the plant, run lines, make connections, install proper safety devices and provide necessary outlets and switches.
- Install and hook-up manufacturing equipment, exercising care as to size of motors, voltage requirements, and balance circuits for proper power distribution.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose major equipment breakdowns and recommend company course of action.
- Investigate and recommend facility and equipment upgrades, replacements and improvements.
- Responsible for troubleshooting PLCs, AC/DC drives, AC/DC motors, controllers.
- Test existing equipment and determine if components of the system need to be upgraded or replaced.
- Maintain records of equipment repairs and the associated parts.
- Responsible for quality of work, good documentation practices & recordkeeping.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area/equipment per “6S” requirements.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Education: High School graduate; 2-year college degree in related field preferred.
- Experience:2 years minimum of electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Knowledge of PLCs, AC/DC drives, AC/DC motors, controllers, control wiring and electronics.
- Experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar technology desired.
- Familiar with and able to use test equipment such as multi-meters, meggers, oscilloscope, etc.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams and schematics, common technical documents and procedures.
- Good record keeping and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Demands:
- 50% sitting
- 50% standing
- 5-10% pushing/force exertion
- Requires standing, sitting, bending forward, crouching.
- Consistent use of arms and hands required.
- Lifting and carrying up to forty (40) pounds.
