Communication may take place in a medical or community setting; providing interpretation, sight translation, and/or translation of documents. Medical Interpreter course completion through a Technical School or higher education institution strongly preferred. High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). Minimum of two years interpreter experience required, preferably in a medical setting. In-house contractors may qualify after full rotation has been completed, generally around 12 months. Must pass verbal and written proficiency tests with an overall score of 80%. Solid knowledge of complex medical terminology through completion of Medical Terminology class or proven linguistic abilities in medical interpreting and knowledge of the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC) code of ethics. National certification must be completed within 2 years of hire either through CCHI or the National Board, and certification must be maintained. Bilingual who speaks, reads and writes proficiently in both native and target languages ( Spanish) with ability to break linguistic and cultural barriers between patients and medical staff. Ability to shift from one language to another in simultaneous and consecutive mode of interpreting. Computer and word processing expertise including MS Word, comfort with an iPad and working in our electronic health record. Good customer service skills, strong communication skills and excellent listening skills. Effective organizational skills with attention to detail including ability to prioritize and assess needs. Ability to multi-task in order to manage interpretation for more than one patient/family at a time. Analytical ability to complete audits, proof read translations and review scheduling; making recommendations for change. This job posting is for 2nd SHIFT -both part-time or full-time options are available. This opening is for those with at least 2 years interpreter work experience. FTE 1.0-full-time - 40 hours/week: Start time 5:00pm (1700) - Mon, every other Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Friday. Plus rotation of every other Saturday and holiday rotation. FTE 0.7 - part-time - averages 28 hours/week: Start time 5:00pm (1700) - Every other Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Plus rotation of every other weekend (Saturday 4:30pm start, Sunday 5pm start) *Please apply for this opening if you are available to work 2nd shift and be sure to note your preference of full-time or part-time and availability details on your application.
