This includes specialized neonatal care i.e. delivery room resuscitation, stabilization, initiation of infant treatment and necessary procedures, prescribing diagnostic testing, medications, and therapies, and providing family support. NNP's are in a leadership position in the NICU. Additional responsibilities include select nursing and medical staff education; consultation; advocacy for patients, families, and nursing staff; involvement in professional development and research; participation and leadership in unit committees and councils; improvement of unit-specific neonatal outcomes. Position Requirements- Professional level of knowledge within health care field through completion of a Master's Degree in nursing-advanced practice. License to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin. Current CPR certification ' Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required. Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) training is required. Certification for Neonatal Nurse Practitioners must be obtained within 3 months of hire date. Proficiency in complex professional and administrative skills usually acquired through 2-3 years of clinical experience related to program specialty. Experience in program development helpful.
