Chuck & Don's Pet Food & Supplies is Hiring a Human Resource Benefit Business Partner Near Woodbury, MN

Position PurposeThe HR Benefits Business Partner is responsible for partnering with the Store Support Operations team and Store Support Center to plan and execute all human resource activities, with a strong emphasis on benefits management for the company.
They work closely with Store Managers, District Managers, and Store Support business leaders to enable them to perform at their best. The HR Business Partner serves as a consultant to our internal business partners, providing them with HR best practices, tools, and resources to build their teams, manage benefits effectively, and drive success. This role involves collaborating with some of the most innovative and diverse people in our holistic pet care world. Furthermore, the HR Business Partner will collaborate with vendor partners to deliver comprehensive benefits packages that meet the needs of our employees.
Additionally, the HR Business Partner will represent the organization as a brand ambassador through various communication channels, including phone, email, social media, and job fairs.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Job FunctionsThe incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.Benefits Administration:
  • Plan, manage, and administer employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, savings accounts, Life/AD&D, Disability, perks, allowances, and time-off programs.
  • Process changes to employee elections and ensure all insurance deductions are accurately entered into the payroll system.
  • Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with market data by analyzing competitive market surveys.
  • Coordinate annual benefit renewals with insurance brokers and reconcile benefit deductions with employee elections and insurance billing.
  • Liaise with outside benefit providers to resolve escalated issues and identify trends for alternative solutions.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and filings, such as payroll tax reports, and conduct audits to ensure accuracy.
Employee Relations:
  • Counsel and coach managers on employee relations issues, ensuring consistent use of IPP Corrective Action programs.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, increase engagement, morale, and productivity.
  • Support the process for unemployment, workers' compensation, and leave of absence claims.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and conduct compliance audits and mandatory reports.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Serve as the benefits compliance official, ensuring adherence to regulations such as FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, and HIPAA.
  • Perform annual 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan audits and manage 401(k) enrollments and education services.
  • Maintain employee records, ensuring accuracy of details such as contact information, job classification, pay rates, and organizational structure.
  • Report and track metrics including turnover and team member data.
General HR Support:
  • Conduct or assist with audits and compliance reviews, including I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, and payroll audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required, or combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • SHRM or other HR certification preferred
  • At least three years Benefits Coordination experience
  • Strong knowledge of benefit programs and related functions
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Advanced knowledge and application of Human Resources principles, practices and employment law
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching leaders on driving performance and development.
  • Human Resources experience in a retail and multi-unit environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ADP Comprehensive Payroll and Performance Modules preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong self-awareness
  • Strong experience conducting HR investigations and interviews.
Physical Demands
  • Most tasks are performed while seated indoors at a personal computer.
  • Day and overnight domestic travel to the Store Support Center, stores, seminars and/or conferences may be required periodically.
  • May include up to 10% domestic travel
  • Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs.
  • Must be able to work around pet hair and dander.
Nature of Supervision
  • This position does not have any direct reports.
Work Environment
  • Operates in a standard office environment.
  • The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards.
